During the Leopard Frogs and Porcupine Grass activity, which is ideal for K-1, students will be using photographs and illustrations to observe, describe, and compare the adaptations of plants (i.e., porcupine grass) and animals, (i.e., the Leopard Frog) to the conditions in which they live.

By the end of the activity students should be able to:

• Identify characteristics of various plants and animals
• Identify and understand the basic needs of living things and how they meet these needs
• Understand and explain the environment/habitat for various plants and animals
• Understand that some plants and animals must adapt to the environment in order to meet their basic needs
