During the Wanted activity, which is ideal for K-1, students will be using a picture of a burrow to hypothesize what animals could have made such a home in the grasslands. Probing questions help them understand that living things are valued in many ways, e.g., as part of a community that exists on the prairies, for shelter, as a food source, etc.
By the end of the activity students should be able to:
- Understand and explain the environment/habitat for various plants and animals
- Identify examples of how plants and/or animals are able to modify their environment to meet their needs
Additional resources included with the activity plan:
- Student worksheet
- Vocabulary cards
- Outside view of habitat picture
- Burrowing owl in its habitat picture
- Animals that live nearby picture
- Nesting sites picture
