Ideal for grade 3, in the Paper Pipelines project students will build their own pipelines to transport different materials from one place to another. Students will experiment with their pipeline to determine how to make objects flow faster or slower.

By the end of the activity students should be able to:

  • Identify the purpose and use of pipelines
  • Use a variety of materials to construct a model pipeline
  • Use a variety of designs to construct a model pipeline
  • Use a variety of methods and materials to join or fasten items
  • Work with a partner, using skills such as listening, speaking and problem solving in order to complete a construction project
