Downloadable (1 PDF - 6 pages)

Ever thought about doing origami science experiments? Ideal for grades 8-10, this experiment involves a spherical 60-carbon containing molecule that is different from graphite or diamond. In short, you will create an origami Buckyball!

After completing this experiment, students will understand:

  • What a Buckminster Fullerene molecule is and its relative characteristics in relation to other molecules

Required resources:

  • Soccer ball
  • Square pieces of paper (sticky notes are a perfect size)
  • Lots of time! (This indeed is a challenge)
